Gunner 253737 "C" Bty. 317th Bde. Royal Field Artillery Reginald Marshall was born in 1895 in Tilford, and his parents were Thomas and Alice Marshall. He married Kate Cottrell of Ash in 1916. Kate’s brother Frederick Cottrell had been killed in 1915. Kate remarried in 1925, to Thomas Moody in Wyke Church. A form was completed for Ash War Memorial committee saying he had served from 10 March 1918. Soldiers Died records that enlisted at Guildford and that he died of wounds. His grave is in row B in the cemetery, where soldiers who died in the Casualty Clearing Stations at Beaulencourt were buried. The Register of Soldiers’ Effects records that his next of kin was his widow Kate. |
