This delivery boy is riding a BSA sidecar combination registration number PA1404. Painted on the side is "FC HAWKINS Family Butchers Ash Vale", and on the front is PHONE No. 10".
The shop was in the Ash Hill Road opposite the recreation ground. The boy is not Sydney Hawkins, although he did ride a motorbike and used to help with the business in the morning before he set off for Farnham Grammar School. Sydney later took over the business from his parents Florence Charlotte (FC Hawkins) and Frederick. The shop had a very big garden, where the Ash Vale telephone exchange was in due course built.
